Remove Intuition Blocks for a Life of Passion and Purpose

“When you expand your awareness, seemingly random events will be seen to fit into a larger purpose.” – Deepak Chopra

Editor’s Note: Angela Artemis has a passion with helping people in developing intuition. It is her soul mission in life. Today’s article is part of a book tour that she is conducting in conjunction with the launch of her book, The Intuition Principle.

In this post, she addresses common obstacles that we often face when connecting with our intuition, a topic that she also covers in her book. For it is only when we can remove the blocks, that we find purpose, live with passion and joy, and heighten our success.

Q. Why is it so difficult to trust our intuition?

A. In Western society, we’ve been trained to rely on reason alone. If we cannot see it or measure it the message is that it doesn’t exist. Intuition is so subtle that Western culture tends to marginalize it. When your intuition arises it’s so soft that we tend to overlook it, blatantly ignore it, assume it was just another thought or think it was our imagination.

The second reason we don’t trust our intuition is because many times the intuitive guidance we receive is in direct opposition to the conventional wisdom. When this happens unless we’ve successfully used our intuition in the past we won’t have the confidence to trust our intuition when what it is directing us to do flies in the face of convention.

This is why it’s so important to practice using your intuition as often as possible.

Q. Why is it harder to connect to your inner voice when you need it most?

A. There are many instances of people who have been in a crisis with no way out who suddenly had a crystal clear moment of calm. They always describe it similarly, “Suddenly this unbelievable sense of calm came over me and I heard this voice directing me to……..and I knew immediately that everything would be okay.” There are times in our lives when our intuition is so strong and the need so great that it can break through the wild frantic thoughts that have overtaken our minds but, it’s not a process we have any control over.

Normally, when you are upset about something your mind swirls with thoughts about the situation that upset you. You cannot calm down and so your mind keeps racing. When you are calm your intuitive voice stands out and comes to the forefront of your awareness. If you are practiced at meditation make some time to meditate and still the mind. Then you can ask for guidance and you will hear it. The secret to hearing your intuition is learning to remain calm in all situations.

Q. Does attachment to an outcome affect intuition?

A. Yes, very much. When you are attached to an outcome you narrow your expectations of what you believe the outcome should be to one single possibility. You develop “tunnel vision” and miss out on other opportunities your intuition might have pointed you toward that could have been even better. By fixating upon an outcome you will either block your intuition and not hear it, or hear it and ignore it.

Your intuition is your connection to Greater Intelligence. Why would you want to limit the possibilities for good in your life that Greater Intelligence can arrange by being attached to only one outcome? Let go of your attachment and be open to the fullness of life and your path will be coincide with fortunate coincidences (synchronicity and serendipity) that will open doors that you never imagined would be open to you.

Letting go is how we “get in the flow” of life. We allow the currents to take us to our destination instead of fixating on one outcome and having to “paddle upstream.” When you allow your intuition to guide you in the flow of life – life becomes effortless.

Q. Why is it that sometimes my intuition is “wrong?”

A. It is not our intuition that is wrong but, what we mistook for our intuition. Intuition is always the simplest most elegant solution to any problem in our life. When we are attached to an outcome our ego will trick us into believing that it is the voice of our intuition and that will trip us up.

Your intuition comes from a deep place of wisdom within. Your ego’s voice comes from the rational mind. It is always thinking of ways to get what it wants. If you want to hear that it is a great idea to do this or that – your ego can sound like your intuition.
The key is to always remain detached. You must always “let go” by saying, “this or something better.”

Q. I just cannot resist this question: can developing intuition transform us spiritually?

A. Absolutely. One of the earliest signs that we are developing spiritually is the opening up of our intuition. At first we may be drawn to develop our intuition further for the benefits it can bring us personally such as solutions and guidance for our life – and that’s fine.

As we grow accustomed to receiving this guidance when we ask for it we find that our “faith” in something greater than ourselves expands as well. We begin to become much more attuned to the pulse of life in all creatures and we develop a finer more subtle sense with which we begin to detect the feelings of other living beings and creatures. This leads us to develop greater empathy, compassion and reverence for all life forms.

At the point that we begin finding ourselves connecting to others and detecting their feelings and thoughts we cross the line from intellectually knowing we are all “one” to actually experiencing it. I believe that experiencing “oneness” rather than intellectualizing it, is part of our spiritual growth.

Loved this line: The key is to always remain detached. You must always “let go” by saying, “this or something better.”

It’s quite difficult to learn this skill. I fear I will always be a student in this particular area. ah well, it’s the journey, not the destination, yes?

Hello Andi-Roo,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Could it be that the word “learning” make things seem more difficult than what they actually are? I believe that all of us are intuitive. Most certainly, by releasing the blocks we will find that being intuitive is very much a part of who we are.

Thank you for this great article and reminder!
For me I noticed how important it is to pay attention to my feelings in my body as my intuition is coming through. =)

Also when I took the PSYCH-K workshops, I learned to be curious and unattached (NOT detached and the reason they gave was very profound to me; unattached Definition: disconnected, free; you are unattached however there are still feelings of empathy and care. Free of not making it your own. THEN …. detached adjective Definition: aloof, disinterested; neutral. When being detached there is no care).

Not sure if this rings true to everyone. For me it was a eye opener, because when ever I will detach myself, I don’t care at all, I don’t feel anything. When being unattached, I am able to be free from the outcome; there is no expectations or attachments to the outcome. However I still care about the person or situation. I am able to ask for the most benevolent outcome – the highest good for everyone involved and the Universe.

Love,

Madeline

i believe all that you have written as true. i am a christian; and i’d like to say that this voice we all hear, especially in times of difficulty is the voice of God.
If you study The Bible closely, you’d find the stories of men who heard this same voice in moments of calm and tranquility. This voice has a Source: God. God bless you!
