Lesson On Success is Not a Straight Line

“The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flat tires called Jobs, but if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perserverance, a driver called Will Power, you will make it to a place called Success.” Unknown

success is not a straight line

Are you in the following scenario? – You are not able to close sales all of a sudden. In fact, the number of customers has dwindled to a halt. As the days go by, you become increasingly worried.

Up until recently, you had been on a winning streak. Even in a bad economy or where conditions are difficult, you had been garnering sales. It’s been great. And, you had felt jubilant, on top of the world, like megabucks. Your vibrational state rose to an all-time high.

Unfortunately, the good times did not last long enough. With the change of events, you could feel your heart sinking. The tap of abundance has stopped flowing. You fear that your luck has run out and that you could be back to the days where you have had trouble putting food on the table.

Be Alert to the Feedback System

Well, recently, I was guided to integrate the important lesson about success patterns. Needless to say, I was experiencing a similar scenario myself, although not quite as dramatic as not having any food to survive on. I did not know the exact reason for a “change in fortune” and wondered to my guides on what the lesson was.

At first, I had tapped (download this report to know more about EFT tapping) for some release but nothing happened immediately. Feeling disappointed, I stopped tapping. As I was not able to help myself, I began to conclude that I could not be my own doctor.

This went on for a few weeks during which I did nothing in terms of inner work….until I decided to pick myself up again. It was when I made the intent to give up my attachment to results and truly focus on releasing work. Hurray! I started getting more and more customer requests again.

Not surprisingly, I was pointed out some meaningful answers. They were serendipitously delivered in a sequence of events.

A friend who is in real estate confided that she was suffering from mood swings due to her inability to close sales for the month. Even though conditions were difficult, she has had an exceptionally good month in March. And so, she has been expecting the same to continue in April and May. However, sales had not turned out in the way she was expecting and hoping. I listened to her woes with great empathy.

Then, about a week ago, I found myself listening in on an old audio recorded by my business coach. Amongst other strategic marketing advice, she talked about repeating success patterns by keeping our vibrational states high so that we can be on the roll. I nodded my head in agreement.

Things finally struck home when I was in conversation with a client who had recently achieved some income breakthroughs but started experiencing jitters over some new pending contracts. She had fears of not being able to hold on to her winning streak of success. As always, I had invited my guides to help in my client sessions and it was during the chat when they nudged me on the divine lesson about releasing our expectations of success patterns.

Lesson on Success is Anything But a Straight Line

success is not a straight line

But of course, we are hoping that success goes up in a straight line. Metaphorically, we think of success in a graph. We expect the line of success to keep extending upwards to represent a constant rate of growth. In fact, we build a lot of expectations into this idea of how a success pattern should look like. And as our expectations go up, our fears start to mount.

In reality, success does not happen in a straight line. We already know this. We need to understand that there will be “good” times and there could be “bad” times. However, if we put in consistent external work and keep at maintaining a high inner vibrational state, the Universe – by Law of Attraction – will deliver the goodies to us.

The trick is to release the attachment to the end results but to place our focus on aligning our energy system. The Law of Attraction is a universal law and we need to trust that it works every single time. There is an intelligent feedback system provided by the Universe and it helps to pay attention to what the lessons are, so that we can continually align our energy system to an optimal state.

Finally, it appears that we may understand things on a conceptual level but our lessons only become integrated when we can match our personal experiences with the conceptual knowledge. For instance, I got to experience a distinctive “aha” moment.

Surrender Your Expectation of the Success Pattern

Thus, if you are in a similar situation and reading this post, the message is for you too.

Also, here are 3 practical ways of what you can do to overcome your anxiety and fears while traveling on your success journey:

Tap, tap, tap. Tap away your worry and fear. Tapping is not a one-day exercise. Don’t give up on the tapping. Be patient while the Universe does its work in bringing the best and ideal clients to you.

Surrender your expectations. Learn to surrender the “shoulds” and the “musts” in how things are going to turn out. You will be a lot more joyful and free. Hence, instead of manifesting confusion, you are in a state of ease and grace 🙂

Relax. When you have done the work and there is nothing else that you can do to control the situation, relax. Go and have a cup of tea. Which is what I did. I called up friends with whom I have not met in a long time and renewed my connection. While business networking was not the official reason why we arranged to meet, they – over tea – offered to refer prospective clients to me. Bless them!

Great graphic! And so true — success is not a straight line at all, and how we define it is always changing too.

Hi Meg,

A picture says a thousand words. I like creating my own graphics as I am visually oriented.

And oh yes….success is always evolving and changing according to the way we define it.

Love and abundance always,
Evelyn
