Who am I and what is my soul purpose?
Who am I and what is my soul purpose?
“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.” Henry Ford
Imagine this.
You are driving on the highway, with a destination that you are hoping to reach. Then, bugs started appearing on the windshield of your car. At first, from the corner of your eyes, the bugs appear small.
However, as time goes on, you feel drawn to looking at the bugs more and more. Your eyes will dart back and forth between the windshield and the bugs. You are becoming extremely distracted. In fact, the more you pay attention to some of the bugs, the bigger and more horrific they become.
With bugs on the windshield, you are no longer able to concentrate on the road. Your focus is now on the bugs. You lose sight of where you want to go.
“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Benjamin Franklin
The last I checked, many of us have some notion of a dream. I believe that the vagueness is partly fogged by our many excuses on why we are unlikely to succeed. We just have too little faith and belief in ourselves. Consequently, we may even procrastinate on making a plan that will help us achieve the success that we dream of. We live in delusion and denial, and ironically get envious when others succeed before us.
There is a popular adage often attributed to Benjamin Franklin, the father of time management, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.” We are contented to sit on our butts and wait for things to happen. However, the reality is that nothing is going to happen if we don’t also take action that moves us forward. Even if we dream of striking the lottery, we will still need to go to the convenience store to buy a lottery ticket. Action needs to take place. While failing to plan may not necessarily result in failure, but it can detract us from becoming more successful.

“People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” – Theodore Roosevelt
Recently, I was asked to share my secrets to building my essential oil business opportunity. One of my team members wanted to find out how I grew my sales volume. Sales volume had increased by an amazing 100 percent in the first half of this year. She asked me if there was anything special that I did.
For a while, I was stumped by her question. While searching internally for an answer, I tried to recall if I had been using any specific marketing strategy that had a direct impact on results. However, I could not think of any.

“Disconnect to rediscover the joys in connection.”
Are you spending copious amount of time on Facebook?
Can’t live without a wifi connection?
Can’t imagine days without your handphone or mobile?
It’s a common sight to see people on their handheld devices. In restaurants, family members are in their own separate mobile world even whilst they are seated together. Children are given ipads for their own separate entertainment in dinner sittings. While crossing the traffic junction, people can be texting away on their phones. On buses, I see passengers watching video clips on their mobiles or checking their FB accounts. In fact, sometimes, I find myself straining to see what they are looking at on their handheld devices.
“We waste time looking for the perfect love, instead of creating the perfect love.” Timothy Oliveria
In our dreams, we would like Mr Right to rescue us, read our minds and surprise us with thoughtful gifts every year that we are married.
We are prompted to look for Mr Right. Female magazines share countless advice on how to nab the perfect man. And so, we end up with some vague notion of the perfect life that we are going to lead after marriage. However, we have a rude awakening when reality does not match this ideal dream. Rita Rutner, comedian and actress, said this candidly…
“When I eventually met Mr Right, I had no idea that his first name was Always.”
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival. – Rumi
One of the most cited poems by meditation teachers is The Guest House by Rumi. Heard of it? It is a beautiful piece that captures the essence of a mindfulness practice.

Buddha was asked, “What have you gained from meditation?” He replied, “Nothing! However,” Buddha said, “let me tell you what I lost: Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Insecurity, Fear of Old age and Death.”
We are in a habit of acquiring things be it a new car, house or a prestigious title to add to our name. The more we acquire, the stronger our ego is. We may even be after a state of bliss when we think about what we can gain out of a meditation sitting. It’s the spiritual ego that gets swollen with false pride.
Our struggles often arise when we are not successful in getting what we want. We become angry, anxious, depressed, insecure and fearful as a result. We act out of our ego selves.
By having more as compared to someone else, our egos believe that we are one up over another. It does not count if everyone has the same material item. Ours have to be bigger, better and more powerful than what our friends, relatives or colleagues have. After all, if it is the same, what is the point on posting the pictures of these things on Facebook or Instagram? The more “likes” we get on social media, the more we feel good about ourselves. Never mind if we don’t even know half the strangers who clicked “like” to our posts online.

“Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Buddha
You can be the candle that lights up thousands of candles.
Everyone has the same gift.
No exceptions.
To be a candle of light does not mean that you have to do great feats, be a public speaker or become a leader.
In fact, it does not take much to spread some happiness.
A kind word, a warm hug or a smile.
You just don’t know who you may impact.

Albert Einstein Quotes has become a byword for sayings by a genius. We all know how brilliant a physicist he was. Sometimes, I would find my coaching clients getting this glint of awareness and appreciation when I inject one of his quotes during our conversation.
“The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.” Albert Einstein Quote #6 below
While I cannot wrap my brains around the Theory of Relativity, I enjoy Einstein’s wit and insight into life and consciousness. Even though we cannot verify whether this letter came from him or not, it is a fact that he has said many wise things in his lifetime. When we want to quote someone wise, his name will invariably come up.
I have used many Albert Einstein quotes on my site as well and I’d like to dedicate a single post to express my gratitude.
So, here is a list of 21 Best Albert Einstein Quotes…

I thought it would be interesting to share my perspective on 50 shades of fear. Clients had been coming to me with their issues which are rooted in various forms of fear. In case you are wondering, I did not read the book 50 Shades of Grey nor have watched the movie. However, I would like to borrow the theme of 50 shades.
As we already know, fear can manifest at different levels and degrees of negative emotions; which is influenced by the story that our minds tell. Our fears make up the stories we tell ourselves.
For instance, fear can be in the form of worry….or in more severe cases, it can grow into depression. Fear can also be in the form of nervousness or a diagnosed panic disorder. We can also express fear in the form of blame or if we feel it strongly, we become antagonistic. Obvious symptoms can range from breaking out in cold sweat, turning ashen white, or the racing of our hearts. Whether a niggling sense of anxiety or intense anger, all are signs of fear.
