My 2013 Work Report: Lessons in Productivity
“Productivity is never an accident. It is always the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.” Paul J Meyer
2013 has been turning out to be a productive year.
Well, as things turned out, I not only tutored my girl – helping her improve her grade in her weakest subject to an “A”, but also improved work productivity levels on the business front.
I was not expecting things to turn out the way it did at first.
Right from January, I was all prepared to slow down my business.
I wanted to avail my time for my 12-year old girl who was sitting for national exams in October. Just to give you an idea on how competitive the situation is, parents are known to take a sabbatical or leave their jobs so that they can coach their children in an exam whereby they eventually get ranked according to their scores nation-wide. The scores would largely determine their schooling for the next 4-6 years.
Even though it would appear that things took on a path that I directed, I have been rather astonished by some of the results. Now that we are nearing the end of the year, it is nice to report the following indicators:
I went from 3-figure to 4-figure pay-days!
I improved process turnaround by 33%, thus cutting down on the number of hours I worked.
I met my bold target goal in terms of number of premium clients served.
I improved coaching delivery by 50%, thereby increasing effectiveness and productivity.
What Did I Do Differently?
“Between the great things we cannot do and the small things we will not do, the danger is that we shall do nothing.” ~Adolphe Monod
* As the first quarter wore on, I refused to allow a couple of horoscope readings, which had predicted a slow year, stop me in what I hope to do. If I had accepted the findings, I would have not started on any of the above mentioned initiatives.
* Because I thought I would have less time due to having to tutor my girl, I actively sought out work solutions that would help me with improving process and delivery turnaround.
* Mid-year, I signed up with a 7-figure coach who taught me about prioritising workflow, becoming more effective in delivery, and most importantly, running an authentic soul-aligned business.
* I sought to balance flow with increased discipline and direction. By the latter, I set bold targets that are challenging.
* Instead of overall abundance, I decided to specialize in a few core areas of strength of which I can be of greater help to clients with tangible results. Check out Wealth Tapestry here!
* I finally found a reliable assistant to work with after a long search. She has been able to help me with some of my routine tasks, allowing me to focus on what is important.
* I used my freed up time to attend workshop seminars on marketing, promotions, and public speaking, areas that I have been resistant to learning previously and learnt a great deal!
The Result?
I worked much less for the same output.
I experienced increased productivity.
I valued my time.
I experienced greater fulfillment from the results I got by investing in my business and myself.
In the meantime, I have been thrilled for my clients whose feedback has been nothing short of amazing!
I went from feeling desperate, anxious and miserable to manifesting an ideal job with a 33% pay jump just within 2 weeks of working with Evelyn. I am feeling more confident and aware about my potential than ever before.” – Susan Logan, HR Manager, VIP Day Client, United States
Time for a Nice Break
It has been a year whereby I had spent a good many months learning how to do things that I don’t normally do. I was in great discomfort but I chose to set aside my fears and trust the process.
The effort was well worth it!
And a nice break is in the order, after all these months.
I have always liked the idea of going on vacations at least once a year.
And so, I will be away on a break soon.
I will be flying off on a holiday with my family in a week’s time. Prior to the trip, I intend to finish off all outstanding work. Just a note, I am not sure whether I will be able to get an internet connection from the ski resort that we will be in. Hence, I may not be posting for a while.
However, I hope to be back soon – feeling rejuvenated and energized!
In the meantime, take care and I wish you a joyous holiday season!
Love and abundance always,
Abundance Alignment Coach
