What You Say Daily Affects Your Wealth

Your words affects the level of your wealth. It ultimately reflects the way you think and what your mind focuses on.

What we say has a correlation with wealth patterns.

I wanted to understand the correlation more closely and was doing some research when I came across an interesting video based on this topic itself.

Apparently, Behavioral Economist Dr Keith Chen came up with the idea that languages without the concept of a future correlate strongly with high savings rates. Obviously, cultural language forms an important part of our communication and savings is a measure of our net worth and therefore amount of wealth. Futureless languages are those that use the word “will” — “It rain tomorrow,” instead of “It will rain tomorrow” – for instance.

Note that savings behavior can be influenced by a number of factors. Dr Chen has highlighted that language is one of them. It is the way we put the language together that focuses our mind on whether we think about the future as disassociated from the present or not. His findings indicate that the propensity to save increases with the use of a futureless language. English is identified as a futured language while Chinese as a futureless language.

Like any other study, it has its detractors.

Still, one thing is clear to me: it is our perception that determines our level of wealth.

Most definitely, we need to be mindful about what we say because words are energy as well. We invite responses from what we put out in the world. In short, we create our reality from what we think, feel and say. Similarly, it is how we affect our wealth reality.

Yes, what you say is important, but it is much more important to look at what you do and what you refrain from doing. I don’t believe that words, the use of any particular words, have such a great impact on results, since most human motivation is driven by images, desires, and goals that are not fully verbalized. Anyway, an interesting article.

Hi John,

Yes, I totally agree that actions are very important. All spring from the mind.

What I would like to highlight through this article is to be aware about our words too. Many people do not pay enough attention to what they say, and therefore think. It is not uncommon to hear swearing for instance. If we can just slow down and listen in to ourselves, we may very well discover where the blocks to our wealth creation lie.

i agree with John, as your karma starts with your thought. even while we say something with some intention, it is the intention which will impact the quantum field in more profound way than ur words. so more than words its the mental images intention which will send messages.
if i dont know a particular language and still i have to say somthing in that language , i may not use appropriate words but my body language, hand movement , facial expression will do the most of talking.
like wise quantum field knows vibrations and frequencies which u convey with mental signal. and once you are CONSCIOUS of your intentions u authomatically choose correct words. so as they say THINK before you speak.

Thank you Evelyn for daily wisdom. its quite nourishing. God bless you!

Hello Jyoti,

Thank you for bringing up about intention. Yes, I totally agree, intention and being conscious of the intention is most important. I have previously pointed out the same in other articles too. What springs from the mind is far more important. It’s the energetic vibration of our being that attracts our outcomes.

However, as a Chinese who speaks both Mandarin and English, I am aware that the culture has an impact on some of the greetings that we use when we meet each other. Many Chinese will refrain from using inauspicious words when it comes to talking about wealth. I won’t use the same greeting with many of my friends from native English speaking countries, for instance. Yet, I have the intention to greet and engage in small talk.

Thank you, Jyoti, for bringing up important reminders about intention and consciousness. You have highlighted vital points about the impact on quantum field indeed!

Love and abundance always,
Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,

First time visitor to this blog…glad I found it.

I agree with the previous two commenters that our intentions and energy are rooted just as much in our nonverbal communication. However, two points…

1. Many of our more complex choices are impacted by our NARRATIVE…the story we tell ourselves about ourselves. And that is very much a function of the symbols we use…in other words our language. Without a word for something, it doesn’t exist in our paradigm.

2. Our personal narrative (see #1) is mostly a function of our emotions…how we feel about ourselves, our place in the grand scheme of things, whether or not we belong, our level of self-confidence. Someone can have a word symbol form for savings that promotes the behavior. But if they don’t feel worthy of financial security, they will make a thousand small choices that sabotage their goal. The good news…if they feel worthy of that security and the adventure of living, they’ll be willing to take helathy risks and won’t internalize failure. They’ll start again when they mess up.

Thanks for this post, Evelyn. I enjoyed it!

Hello Larry,

I think we can all agree that intentions and emotional energy play an important part in our wealth creation. Our personal narrative does ultimately translate into the words that we express to others too. And most definitely, a low sense of self-worth can impact the level of wealth. As it is often said, self-worth is tied to one’s net-worth.

Thank you, Larry, for sharing your perspective and feedback. I appreciate your participation and sharing 🙂

Hi Evelyn,
My husband and I watched the TED video last week. We thought a lot about it and had some discussions on the English language. But I was finally able to get it. I love to use the word “I AM” to get where I want to be. I never thought how much in the present these words are. It was a profound moment when I could link the words and the video you presented!
Thanks!!

Hi Betsy,

Great! The words “I am” definitely anchors us into the present. It is a good practice to start positive affirmations with “I am”.

I am glad to know that the video sparked off some thought-provoking discussions for you.

Love and abundance always,
Evelyn
